Jean Paul Gaultier, the exhibition-event settles down in Paris
After having conquered nearly a million and a half visitors since its creation in Montreal, in 2011, this exhibition-event, the first devoted to French fashion designer Jean Paul Gaultier, settles down in Paris. For its tenth stage, the exhibition produced by the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts with the Réunion des Musées Nationaux, the Grand Palais, and the collaboration of the Maison Jean Paul Gaultier, Paris; is enriched with facilities specially designed for the Capital. On the program of the Jean Paul Gaultier exhibition: 175 unique pieces by the designer, mixing haute couture and ready-to-wear, fashion photographs, archives, sketches, stage costumes, extracts from films, fashion shows, concerts, music videos, dance shows and TV shows. Note: a special place has also been given to fashion photography, with pictures, often unpublished, of renowned contemporary photographers and artists, from Andy Warhol to Mario Testino, including Robert Doisneau, Peter Lindbergh, David LaChapelle or Pierre and Gilles, to name a few. More than a simple retrospective of the artist-couturier's work and career, this exhibition is a creation in its own right; sublimated by an innovative scenography, straight out of the imagination of Denis Marleau and Stéphanie Jasmin, directors of the Montreal theater company UBU.Jean Paul Gaultier, "the terrible child of fashion"
